This thing reminded me of an Earl Thomas Conley song AND a David Frizzell and Shelly West tune. Can anyone name the tunes

800mm f5.6 w/1.4x TC

50% -ish crop
1DsMK3 manual
Flash did not fire :)

ISO 200
1/320 @ f8

Well crap... I need to make another signature brush... 2009 is no more

I wouldn't mind seeing the blacks of the night sky a little purer, but all else looks great. Sorry, can't name the tunes without doing a Google search!:p

Thanks Stuart

Daniel- I think that I messed the blacks up a little with the S&H tool. I need to go back and take a look at that.

They are old country music songs :o)

Thanks Dave and Roman. I hope your holidays have been spectacular (in a good way).

:D Roman, I forgot about the song your hint brings to mind. The best hint for the ETC song that I was thinking of is the title of this post :)

I have to be honest. With the setup I was using this kind of shot is remarkably easy to pull off. I've shot the moon so many times that I know that I can can set the ISO to 100, f stop to 8-ish (so that I have plenty of DOF  just kidding. I pick f8 because the lens seems to be a little sharper there... though that might be my imagination), and tweak the shutter speed so that I'm exposing around 2 stops under with my 600mm lens. I just winged it (with some forethought) with the 800 /1.4 TC combo and kicked ISO up to 200. It also helps the crop resolution when I have spare pixels to throw away... Next time I'll try some fill flash :p
