The 3/4 profile angle (at least that's how I refer to it) is my favorite angle for these birds, but its tough to get right because of the shadows and how the wings can obscure the body or face of the bird. The sun needs to be at your back but the wind needs to be at somewhat of an angle to force them to land with this perspective. This is one I was pleased with, from a few weeks ago. Its a tight crop but that's how I tend to do it. Hammer away, thanks!

Hi Phil!

I think the details are beautiful, and you have a beautiful background. Also interesting that your "3/4 profile" view places the head and body to the left 1/3. I like it!

Hi Phil
I also light tight crops, I'm sure there will be some that will want to say" I wish there was more more on the right" or other cropping ideas ect To me this is perfect as presented. Great job on handholding the 500 by the way!

Excellent flight image. Love the wings, details and light. I would love to see a little more room to the right but a fine image as it is.

I love the angle and the light. The color in the background is simply gorgeous. Room on the right is my only nit but it's not a deal breaker as this is one superb pelican shot. Great job.
