I photographed this Purple Sandpiper at Barnegat Light while being there with Denise, Michael and Artie a few days ago. Denise posted a similar image, if memory serves right I was a bit left of her and lower down. I liked that the sandpiper didn't mind the water around him as long as he could hold on to the rock underneath him. I thought this would be a good motto for the coming year. :) Happy New Year everybody!

Axel, I remember that day and that shot. I like the way the water looks like small waves surrounding the Sandpiper. Nice exposure and sharpness. HNY!:)

Axel, I like it. It looks like he is standing on the edge of a water fall. The light is great, comp works, and it's very sharp.

Beautiful image. In my experience this is an unusual pose (in the water) for a Sandpiper.
Happy New Year
Peter

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! I've seen sandpipers foraging at the water's edge but I haven't seen one resting comfortably this way before.

He looks cold. Like I would be if I had stayed on Long Island!

A beautiful image, Axel. The way the foreground waves drop off to the background bokeh is really sweet here and the color of the water is a very nice blue. Exposure, sharpness and color on the critter are dead on as usual.

Just rub it in. :) I was there yesterday morning and even the Long-tailed Ducks were puffed up because it was so cold. :)

Just be glad that you were not on the jetty on Tuesday.... That would have been the opposite of **** on earth. Mid-20s with gusts of 40-50. :)

I like this perspective Axel. You seemed to be pretty low down, and its works well showing the "wave". I like the HA, detail and colours, and the sandpiper stands out well against the soft blue BG. Happy new year to you too.

Wonderful color, detail, exposure and HA. Amazing that you could get that low among the rocks on the jetty. A little lower and you'll need an underwater housing. Very nicely done! Happy New Year!

Thanks, Bill! I'm glad you liked it and the camera was not in danger of taking a bath. :) All the best for coming year!

Really nice Axel, I agree with the previous posters. A unique composition very well taken and presented.
