D70s 70-200VR+2X@400 1/800 f/5.6 ISO500 0EV handheld

This is from last week. I seldom get these guys "right." The color is often wrong, etc. I caught this guy rearing up, flexing his wings and drying off after a dive. He flew off shortly thereafter. The image is almost full-frame, is sharpened and NR is applied. I cloned out part of another cormorant in the background. And I brightened the eye a bit, too.

Hi Wendell - Too tight for my personal tastes - more room all round required. Looks a little soft and some areas look a little funky. He needs some room up front to take off into as well.
Id guess F5.6 wasn't enough DOF here.

I agree with Mr. Peters on the techs. and advise given. In addition, the subject is past the point of capture and moving away...looking forward to the next one...:cool:

Hi Lance:

You mention DOF. What do you guess would have been the optimum setting here, and what might that have changed about the image? Really appreciate your input!!!!!
