I haven't been out lately in a situation where I can get some landscape shots (plus I don't have a wide angle lens at the moment, although Santa is bringing one!!) so I dug into some older shots again. Took this one in western Oklahoma a few years ago on a spectacular morning. Not much of a sky so I tried to minimalize it and focus on the prairie and canyon. C and C welcome

Hey Mike,
I do wonder if you can pull out a bit more in the shadow areas and you did very nicely minimizinfg the sky.....the pano crop just works to accentuate some of the lines. Glad to see Santa is grating a nice wish!

Hi Mike,

Nice to see something for OK. I agree with Roman's assessment and suggestion Local Contrast Enhancement for added affect (http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20434).

Hi Mike, Nice moody feel to the image but agree about pulling a bit more out of the shadows. The crop framed the image nicely with a division of thirds. The LCA should bring the image up a bit also...

He brought some money for a lens. Any thought/recs on a landcscape zoom? I'm leaning toward a 10-20mm or a 24-70mm...

Hey Mike,
with the 50D I would easily go for the 10-20.......I love the WA perspective but it does take some getting used to. The 24-105L is also a very good alternative/ more practical choice.

Thanks Roman. I'm really leaning toward a 10-20 for my D300. There's been a lot of situations where I wish I had more FOV. I really wish there was a 10-70 mm that someone made. :)
