I was recently out with Dale Franz, in Cody, WY, for the bighorn sheep, but the surrounds were just breath taking. It was around -12 degrees:eek:, so I did not take long for these shots, but I thought this one came out ok. I used a few of the Nik filters to increase the blue in the sky and bring out more contrast. Nikon D200 and tamron 17-50 f/2.8, f/10, iso 100, 1/100, 40mm. C&C of course always welcomed:).

Hi Nancy, I feel you composed the image well with just enough foreground interest. Nice soft light which has some warmth and you minimalised the sky. I might have done 2 things. Moved a bit to the left so the tree wouldn't merge with the open water and crop a small bit off the left to a little before the first lefthand tree trunk.
Interesting image!!

lovely depth, tone and clarity here Nancy...agree with Dave's compositional sentiments, and would try to make the BG mountains pop some more with local contrast enhancement.

Well two of my favorite commentators (Roman is the other) beat me to my two comments, the tree merge and the local contrast enhancement on the mountains. For more on LCE, see my tutorial here: http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20434.

Well did a bit of Vivenza 2 on the mountains and took the liberty of cloning out the middle tree and then recropping as suggested. Thoughts?:) And Dale an otter would have been great!! Where are they when you need them:D.

Wonderful rework, Nancy. The original post was nice, but you improved it nicely. The composition and colors are beautiful.
