Here's another shot of the male songlark just before he took off. Some commented on its long legs in the previous post. Brown Songlarks are a ground dwelling species of grasslands and, these days, cropping areas. They are related to the Old world Warblers.

Rob, This is a bird that I have never seen before your image. Your presentation is beautiful with the smooth complimentary background, nice perch and subtle inclusion of the grass blades. Plus the bird and his take off pose is fun.

Sweet image!! The awesome pose makes the image for me. Maybe a bit off the top.

I love the alert stance and the eye contact in this image. The oof blades of grass adds to this image now knowing where it tends to lurk.

I like the angle, pose, sharpness, BG and eye contact and might try to lighten the chest area that is not sunlit.

Rob, Very cool looking bird. I like the comp. and the pose very much. The BG is great. I like the tail up. Very nicely done. TFS the additional info on the species.

Hi Rob, I have enjoyed your image and the information you shared. I like the pose and eye contact. I find the simple background and colors to be very pleasing. The hint of environment/habitat that the out of focus grass provide adds a lot to the image. I agree with Ofer on taking a little off the top and with Axel on attempting to lightening the shadowed areas of the birds breast.
