40D, 300 2.8+2xTC, 1/800, f5.6, ISO800, HH, PL filter.
Cropped, removed some extra distracting branches, NR, sharpen.
Is the branch too bright?
I had the choice to either level the wings or the eyes in post processing, I chose the eyes.

hi John - love that wingspread - I might tone down the branch just a tad.
On my screen it looks quite soft - I sharpened in Genuine fractals with a Med Sharpen/Max Texture action on a a separate layer and then reduced it to about 80% also the reds were a tad over so desaturated them just a little.
Selected the sky and made it just a tad lighter - sorry couldnt help myself was looking for that Nikon blue.

See if this looks any better - hard with a small file - you will do much better with the RAW!!!

Good show!

Hi John, I like the spread-winged pose and eye contact. Lance nailed the critique.

Hi John Real nice pose with those stretch wings !! Lots of shadow detail and repost by Lance looks

... might be fun to clone parts of the brach on both sides, would be a large flying load :)
