Dear All
Kanha NP was calling for some time since my last visit there in 2007 ( Without Camera ), Kanha is one of the most beautiful forest in Asia and yes great example of destructions and recovery
In British era nearly entire Kanha forest was under tremendous pressure for big size Sal logs for Railway sleepers and habitat of grass land birds , insects , animals and Tigers was lost. After independance , This forest was converted into NP and rebuilding was on. The Park's landmark achievement is the preservation of the rare hardground Swamp Deer (Barasingha), saving it from near extinction. Now Kanha NP is the last home for Barasingha on this beautiful planet .Stringent conservation programs for the overall protection of the Park's fauna and flora, makes Kanha one of the most well maintained National Parks in Asia.
So I was much excited and started off from my home in Scorpio ( SUV ) , 810kms distance and I was alone. With company of some great music by Kishore Kumar I was in Kanha in 10 Hrs
First round was a Afternoon ride with no luck for stripes:D and I filled my lungs with fresh air and I was feeling close , very close to mother Nature
Second morning I was ready at 5.30 in Morning and we drove in park. On link-7 road we were greeted by two ladies in orange color and black stripes. Link -7 Tigress with cub was pleasure to watch and they really come close( I have used 300mm, 105 & 50mm ). Tigress was cool and her cub was in great mood , I made some decent images
In afternoon , We sighted one male tiger but no luck with camera as he was nearly 300 feets away and was not inetersted. I asked driver to go to Link -7 road again and we were lucky to sight mother , few more images and lady decided to enter lantana . We ( me & my driver ) were very happy with day's sighting and we celebrated with some fine wine and delicious Madhya Pradesh style food
Today I was the last ride and I was not much intersted in searching Link-7 Tigress so we decided to take another route. for first 3 hrs no sighting at all , not even deers and I thought to exit park from outside road. After driving for 30 mins and after makning some lovely shots of wild flowers, we were about to exit as sun was beating. On one turn I was surprised to see Tigress walking head on to us and to my utter happiness she had sucking cubs she left some where hiding. I never thought I can see a Tigress who has sucking cubs in broad day light. I made few images as light was so harsh and after some time before entering bushes Lady mock charged us. So taking clues we left place imediately
I packed my luggage and drove back home. This was one of the most succesful short trip I have made to any Tiger Country in recent time. 500 keepers in two days , not bad at all
