Nikon D3 600mm lens 1/640 @ f8 iso 1000, small crop
photographing these large grey subjects is always difficult, its ok if they are in the distance , but close up I always seem to struggle and can be very frustrating ... so tried to do something different and isolate different body parts ...
Hi Peter I like your idea of isolating and for the elephants does the b&w works !!

Might try a slight different corp and this is only taste, wold give slight more room at the top, crop the last fourth of the cusp then a little of the bottom? Would also like to have some detail around the mouth area !! Different and looking good !!!

this is a classic Delaney beaut. lovely use of lines, texture and curves and the B&W does it justice. I also struggle with them up close. :)

Super conversion Peter. Like where you are going with this. Some good suggestions to enhance further. Thinking you have portrayed the features of an Ele very well.

Thanks Al,for your advice regarding crop of image, have given it a little more room on top but wanted to keep the trunk framing image... shud be more detail around the mouth now.

thanks Harshad, Morkel:),and Mr Fletcher appreciate your views as always.

Repost looks good. Lots of options for tight comps on an animal that size. Looking forward to more.

Peter,
The image looks good. In the repost, I would prefer a bit more space at the right. Keep on experimenting.

Cheers,

Liike the repost because it shows more of the skin. Love the unique comp and the details in the skin and the tusk.
