Managed to get it dropped shipped to me in Florida while I'm on vacation thankfully :)

I'm on vacation, so no images yet.

It's wider and a bit heavier than the 500 AFSII, yet it feels better balanced.

The hood is shorter.

The is no longer an aperture ring.

The focus settings are different in their options than it's predecessor (2 distance options rather than 3).

There are both an M/A and an A /M option for AF...while both allow for the use of manual override, the M/A is a much slower override, to preclude changing the focus inadvertently.

The VR works wonderfully, both on tripod and off.

IQ is excellent with a difference that I can't yet quite put my finger on....perhaps when I get home to the calibrated monitor which I'm used to processing on.

Sounds great, Jim. I'm sure you will give it a nice workout in Florida and I can't wait to see images made with it.
