These 2 rams were engaged in a running battle over a ewe last week on my Battling Bighorns tour. As they came way to close I just kept firing away with my 10 fps mk3 and 300mm.. I'm glad I did.

The crop you chose here (whether in camera or in PS) is on the money. It tells the whole story and a powerful one. I am surprised you got as much DOF as you did at F4 at this short distance. I guess I would like to know why you chose this F stop when with your camera you could have used a higher ISO?

Dale the action was sure great!! Very intense moment caught! I really like the presentation!

I am all warmed up, in fact, I actually feel too warm! Go figure. It was a terrific adventure, thanks again!

The tight crop, locked horns, and opposing leg angles all add up to give this a good sense of action.

Just proves the MKIII couple with the 300 (f/2.8?) is an awesome bit of kit!

Not sure about having the feet in or not, however it doesn't worry me. Well seen and caught. BTW can you tell me where the focus point was please? Just interested to know.

Between the base of the horn and the eye of the closest ram....

No choice on the crop, image is showed full frame. I always use an ISO as low as possible to achieve my photographic goal. At the distance I anticipated photographing the action F4 would have been fine but when they ran by me at full speed I had no time to think about F stops..

Lovely action. The eye contact is superb. Just a little bit more space at the right to get the curve of the rear leg to be continuous. The cropping of the legs at the bottom doesn't bother me. Overall, a fine image.

Cheers,

Like the tight crop and the action. Great eye contact as well.
