Like to use a black BG from time to time to force the viewer to see the subject of a photo. Here I used a black fabric and natural window light. No flash was needed.

Canon EOS- 1D, EF 100- 400 mm. f/4.5- 5.6 IS zoom, Canon 12 mm. ET and Bogen tripod. Not sure of my exposure information.

Exquisite image, Charlie!

The lighting is beautiful, the BG works nicely, and the crop is excellent.

Hi Charly, great composition. The light is awesome and I think the black BG complements the yellow of the subject very much. Excellent work!

I'm still not fond of the stem coming in from the right side of the frame but the lighting and clarity on the flower is beautiful Charlie. You did an outstanding job on keeping the yellows at the right level of saturation as well. Very dramatic image!

Hey Charlie, good details and light, I might have placed the stem a little lower and angled more.:)

Love it! The yellow against black is fabulous. I would like a bit more stem at more of an angle, and a bit less black.
