Zoltan with such an intense light the whites looks a bit bright to my taste. You have some hot pixels in the red channel (about 5000 pixels in the levels 254-255) and that could explain the reason why the whites looks bright. The Bg is very rich in red and it seems to be a bit light (see the histogram of the red channel). It would be very easy to tone down a bit during the RAW conversion. Details in the plumage are superb and the eye is just fantastic. I am not sure about the shadow of the grasses in the rump of the bird. I have no experience with the lens and converter that you are using but it seems that you have done a terrific job with the 2XTC
Hope this help to improve this excelent image :)

Hi Zoltan, I would agree with Juan's suggestion, however it does look rather over sharpened to me. Sill a nice looking bird.

I really like seeing images of this species, pose eye contact and BG look good. Sharpness looks good on my monitor. I agree regarding toning down the highlights and wish the grass in front of the tail were not there.

Beautiful image. Exposure looks spot on to me - the two feathers on the back look a bit hot but the rest of the bird looks great. I don't see any over sharpening. I also don't mind the reed in front of the tail as it gives the image a natural feel. Would not change a thing.

Beautiful shot Zoltan. Sharpness looks good on my monitor too. With Ofer on the shadow. part of the habitat and wouldn't change it either. Nicely done.

Agreed on both points.
This image will still be strikingly beautiful after toning down the brightest parts.

Zoli,

I like it as is. Wonderful image. Sharp for the 2x combo.

Harshad, when will you formulate your own critique instead of agreeing with others? ;)
