Now that this is the squirrel forum I can add to the series. Not nearly as dramatic as that Indian giant squirrel but our humble arctic ground squirrel holds its own in the hardiness department making a living at high latitudes. A favorite subject of those who study hibernation and brown fat.

Most welcome, Declan, and a fine looking ground squirrel this is. Like the eye contact and the look he is giving you. Looks like he has some nice thick fur. I guess he uses his tail to stay snug rather than for shade :). Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a cross between a prairie dog and a woodchuck with some squirrel mixed in.

I had intended only to add to the squirrel rogues gallery but happy that y'all liked the siksik (as the local folks call them).

Here it is collecting tufts from cotten grass to line the den for the winter snooze.

I'm having a sensory overload with all these squirrels !!

I like placement in frame and fine eye contact, might have tried avoiding the white rock behind the head !!! ... btw if you want to post another different image best to do in a separate post the following day !!!
