Quiet time of the year locally, so its time to concentrate on the oft ignored residents :-) I like how this little guy seems to be perched atop of a cave entrance...it really is just a small crevice in this moss-covered boulder. Seed used to entice it closer.

Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/125s., f/6.3, ISO 800, -0.3 EC, natural light, handheld, full-frame.

Daniel:

Typical nuthatch pose on an unusual perch. Catches the eye.

Very sharp on the body and wings, a bit less on head and beak.

well exposed.

I might be tempted to crop in a tiny bit from right.

Cheers

I love the composition and habitat. Awesome pose too. I think it can be slightly brighter.

Hi Daniel - I've tried for a long time to get a photo of this species. I see them once in awhile but I've never made it happen yet. We call them monkey birds here because of their great poses such as the one you have captured. The moss on the entrance is unique and adds to the image.
