Got an oppurtunity to visit Pangot and Sattal , great birding places at the foothills of the Himalayas .
Got this Great barbet perched in the heavy branches of a tree .
Made this with Canon 1D Mk III , 600 mm f4 IS , 1.4 TC .
Specs :
Exposure Time = 1/500"
F Number = F5.6
Exposure Program = Aperture priority
ISO Speed Ratings = 640
Exposure Bias Value = ±0EV
Metering Mode = Spot
Hope you like it .
Cheers,
Rakesh

I like the bird, colours and eye contact. The perch is a little distracting though especially since it is obscuring the bird a bit. Thanks for sharing

Beautiful bird, good eye contact and sharpness. I also wish the branch in the foreground would not partially block the bird.

Wish for better perch was there but when you get Great barbet you have to take what has been offered.

Rakesh, loved the sharpness on the bird and the depth-of-field. Awesome species...one which most of us from India also have never been fortunate enough to see. Looking forward to more from that region....

I agree about the distracting perch and would prefer a more clean view of the barbet. The bird itself is just beautiful and I love the colors. Very good eye contact and pose :-)
