A recent photo from a trip to Haliburton, Ontario. This image was taken about a half hour before the sun set. C&C welcomed.

Nice find, pose, sharpness and BG. I might decrease the blue saturation in the parts that are not sunlit.

I would give it a bit more space on top if you have it. Other than that I just think it is lovely. The perch, detail, light and interesting BG make this a great shot!

Wonderful pose and perch Mike. The light makes this shot. Haliburton is beautiful this time of year.

Mike:

Very nice, comments already made re: crop and blue cast.

I might consider reducing the luminosity of the chunk of wood that juts out at 45 from the trunk (lower left corner). It is just bright enough to draw attention away from the bird. The stump is so detailed that it does tend to draw ones eye, so reducing that slivers brightness should help.

Cheers

Killer bird, killer perch. I would either move the bird to the left or the right as is it is too centered for me. Probably to the left in the frame-several benefits there: more green, plus, the bird is then looking into the open space.

Nice sharp image of the barred owl with a good background too. Love the catch lights.

Here is the edit with the suggestions made. I myself like the idea of reducing the blue in the shadows, and I have cropped it more to the right as Arthur suggested and a smidgin more above the head. Oh and I also toned down the piece of the perch that was distracting.

Thanks

The exposure in the repost looks really good. If it were mine, I would put the bird a tad more to the right, but not much.

I love the repost exactly as presented. I am glad that you had more on the right. That stuff (and the bird) look great. The repost might be a tad too contrasty for me.
