My group at Bosque stayed fairly late and most of them headed back to Socorro. Things did not look to good but myself, two of my co-leaders--Robert O'Toole and Jim Heupel, and several in the group decided to stick it out for ten minutes more. We were justly rewarded as thousands of geese filled the golden sunset skies in long skeins.

This image was created with the Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS lens and the EOS-50D. ISO 400. Evaluative metering +1 2/3 stops: 1/400 sec. at f/5.6 in Av Mode.

Removed about eight geese from the frame edges and one merged group that just did not fit in the image.

Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

I like this Art, Very nice colors and the frame filled with geese is pleasing to the eye, Ron

This is pretty cool. I like the composition, colors and clouds, the bands of birds add to it.

Very nice. I like the difference in light and texture of the upper clouds and the ones nearer the trees. Colors have a pleasing warm tone. Looking at the lines of the birds and the difference in their wing positions reminds me of reading sheet music. Lots of feeling to this one for me.

Artie: Nice image. A great example of wonderful images from the Bosque with "shorter" lenses. That 70-200 is on at the top of my wish list for the next lens in my bag. I really enjoy the textures and layers in this image.

As Keith stated, great textures and patterns. The color doesn't hurt either.

You'd have to change your name to Chris Van Rooyen and bring along several BBC honored images :)

Well, changing my name could be done, but a lot of hassle.. Don't have any BBC honored images yet.... Guess I'll keep toiling away to make some...

Mate, I thought it was great when I first saw it - generally after everyone has commented since I am on the road (hello from Puerto Varas, Chile) - I didnīt comment this time.

HOWEVER, when I have now had the opportunity to see the original in the BAA Bulletin 308 - a comment is definitely required: Simply Magic!!

Thanks for sharing the transformation from "junk" - a technical term :) - to "elegant"!

Question: I do not understand you comment in the Bulletin
"I took it off the junk pile (after realizing that I could restore the sunrise colors after properly exposing the original and making it look drab). "

What did you make look drab? The transformed image is hot and beautiful!!

I think that this, the properly exposed original, qualifies as drab....
