Taken on the road between Elim and Napier, Western Cape, South Africa, 2nd December 2009

EOS 1D MkIII

500mm F4 IS hand-held

F5.6, 1/640. ISO 800

The blown arts of the flower are "hairs" which I could not get rid off.

I like this version a lot, Ken. Looks like the sugar bird is sitting on a nest:). Like the over-the-shoulder pose, somewhat mean expression, nice eye contact & details. Blown hairs on the protea flower does not bother me at all.
ps- the beak can maybe do with a bit of linear burn to take the reflection away.

I really like the diffuse light, colors and background. Also like the expression on the bird's face.

Couldn't get that one positioned in that perch much nicer than that. Nice headturn, perch, BG, and detail.

Lovely soft light Ken, goo head turn. I would consider increasing the midtones slightly in levels?

Thanks for your comments and advice.

The flower is a protea.
