Really nice pose you've captured here, great bird and great perch.
A bit more saturation and a touch more contrast, perhaps?
I would also trim a bit off the left side.

Lovely posture and perch, and background is perfect! I agree that a little more mid-tone contrast might be a good idea.

I really like this shot. On my screen the contrast is fine, but the head/eyes are not as sharp as the body. I like the colors, especially the density of the yellow. I like the crop, although I would probably crop the whole thing just a little tighter. The color in the BG is great! Only other thing is there is no catchlight in the eye, but it still manages to come though ok.

I like the singing pose you captured here Kurt. The eye looks a little flat but it is still an overall beauty!

Loverly image design, BKGR, pose, and framing but with bird photography you need to get everything right not just most.... Jim Kay nailed the problem--the head is soft, likely in part due to subject movement (the singing) but also due to lack of d-o-f as the bird's head is slightly angled away....

How did you get so close with a 300???????
