I like the cool blue BG and the soft yellows of the grass. Also like the fence line leading to the owl and how the OOF BG post balances out the owl.

I love the color palette of the image. Wish I could see those incredible yellow eyes a little better. I like most of the habitat but my eye keeps getting drawn to the OOF tall stuff to the left of and behind the bird.

Love this species, never have seen one or had the chance to photo them. Great picture, I like the habitat and the sleepy look on the owl's face.

I love photos of snowy owls. Maybe I'll get to see a real one some day.
The owl looks great on the fence with the long grass in front and surrounding her. The background colour in the top of the frame doesn't quite work for me. Not quite harmonious with the light browns. Was it altered or was it due to a change in white balance (e.g. shaded section)?
Anyway, beautiful scene and bird!

Very nice shot Martin. I hope we get some snowy owls out our way this year. I really like the inclusion of the habitat and fence. I wonder if cropping on the left to the grass would make an improvement. Dave

Martin:

Lovely shot. I like the dark clouds, does give the sense of a snow storm coming.

I thought about Dave's comment on cropping, and can see a different crop. The space to the left doesn't add a lot IMHO. This version balances very well for me, with the birds back working the diagonal line in one direction, and the fence line going the other way. Some may not like its square shape, but I am OK with it.

Truly, just a matter of personal taste.

Hope to see more.

Cheers

I kinda like the original crop.

Really enjoy the overall scenery.

More open eyes would have put this one oveer the top for me.

Salut Martin,

another great photo... a good way to start the snowy owl season! I like the crop and the grass don't bother me.
