Taken at a lake here in central Kentucky. Canon 40D, 300mm 2.8L, 1/1000 sec., f/16, iso 500. Raw conversion with ACR, usual photoshop processing also added some canvas on the left. Nothing cloned or removed from the raw file.

Nice downstroke wing pose and beautiful BG. Good job on the exposure too. Wish the head was turned more this way. F/16 is a bit overkill ..you'll want as much SS as possible for BIFs and this is robbing you some of that. Opening up would also give you more wiggle room for lower ISOs. Comp is a bit too centered, you'll want to place this guy closer to the right edge of the frame - giving it the impression of more room to "fly" into (you did have the right idea by adding canvas at right - you just need to also remove some at left).

Nicely done Joel Very sharp. I like Dan'd idea of opening the lens up a bit more although you had pretyy good ss. Gull must have been fairly close. Nice shot. Dave
