Found this indian spotted eagle resting on the ground after a morning hunt. I have made the crop a bit tight hope its OK.

Spec: 1/1600, F 7.1, ISO 400.

Crop is just fine IMO. Awesome pose, superb detail, light and sharpness. Just wish the legs could be seen.

Great light and fantastic low angle! The more I see images from Indian birdlife the more I want to go there! Is this Aquila pomarina (Lesser Spotted Eagle)?

Thank you guys,

@ Ofer: sorry offer, in south india its pretty difficult to get them on the ground with the feet seen. So I have made one image of this beauty on a anthill, will post it soon.

@ Chris : it will be a honour to have you here in India, your most welcome. this is the Aquila hastata the Indian spotted eagle its a different species.

You have made the best of the opportunity that presented itself in front of you Kiran. I will fully agree on the legs, its just not possible when they perch on the grassland.

Kiran - one of my favorite shots you have posted. I love the tight comp and the color and exposure are dead on. The bird's head is so sharp and vibrant here, I just love it. Head angle may actually be 269 instead of 270 but I'm not a head angler.:)
