Photographed a little over a week ago in Minnesota.

This represents about 75% of the full frame.
Removed some out of focus ducks from the background -- representing more "cleanup" than I would usually attempt and which may have taxed my photoshop skills a bit.

Appreciate all comments and critique.

Great shot. If you masked the bird to work on the background, you did a great job masking. I have read all the tutorials and just can't master that without halos.

The one thing I think I see is a fairly abrupt change to out of focus on the water. This starts just at the tip of the wing.

The bird itself is great, sharp, good pose eye contact etc. Even the background is fine, I was just nit picking.

Hey Brian: The canvasback rules among duck hunters in Missouri. Beautiful image of an awesome critter. The foreground water is very nice as well and the eye is like a little jewel.

Brian:

Well exposed on a bird that is easy to overexpose. I like the pose, eye and comp.

Photoshop work not obvious, which is what you want!

Beautiful bull canvasback. I think you did a very nice job of cloning out wherever the other birds were. The head and eye are nice and sharp. I also like the low angle. Congrats.
