Taken in Mahale National Park, Tanzania, 27th December 2007

EOS 1D MkIIn

300mm F4 IS hand-held knelling down out of breath.

F4, ISO 800 (the highest I dare with this camera), 1/100

It's very dark and very light in the jungle!

Make what you will from the hand gesture, I thought it was aimed at the "professional" photographer who kept getting in front of us, luckily we got to this one first until he shoved us out of the way.

Ken,
This is nice. Its gesture is interesting. I won't be keen to get pushed away by this fellow. :D

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

wonderful sighting and the old blighter posed nicely for you! I've read a lot about the difficulties of exposing correctly in dense forests and hope to get the opportunity someday...

Like the pose of the chimpanzee and the way he is looking out of the frame. Nice light and color as well.

Lovely pose Ken, and love the pensive look. Overall well exposed, and a species I would love to see in the wild.

Thanks for all of your comments, the exposure only looks good thanks to techniques I learned from this forum. The highlights on the leaves were particularly difficult.
