Sid, I like the sharpness, eye contact and its really popping from the BG. Like the cold blue tone of the BG. Maybe a tad more space on the RH for him to look into? Crop as is looks great for a Christmas card as well.

Good detail captured Sid, and nice and sharp too. I agree with Betsie, a little more on the RHS will work.

Sid,

Very nice elk portrait. I would use Hue (approx + 40) to alter the background color a bit, as it has a bit too much cyan. It will still retain a slight blue cast for cold feeling.
Additionally, you can use Nik White Neutralizer and vary opacity to negate all or part of the color cast.
