Working on some HDR images. This was taken in Wilmington NY near the base of Whiteface Mountain about 30 minutes before sunset. It is about 3-4 weeks past peak fall foliage but the sunset light and the remaining color made for some interesting colors. This is 3 images taken on a tripod mounted Canon EOS 40D, f/22, at 4 s, 2 and 3 with +1 2/3 and -1 2/3 comp., 12-24mm at 12mm. Blended in Photomatix.

Hey Nick,
Scene is composed nicely with the flow of the trees working nicely with the V of the sky. I think you could take a bit off the right (leave the entire 2nd small evergreen in) to minimize some of the darker areas presence but I'm not quite sure if it's the long exposure or the effect of the HDR.....but the MG ghost trees appear soft and could use a bit of lightening. Just doesn't appear as crisp as I would like. Did you take this as a single image also?

Here's the rework....just dodging and burning selectively. I did also crop.....it's centered now.....which I'm not thrilled with....but let see what others chime in.

Hi Nick, Pleasing image which the addition of the reflected area making it very interesting. Looking at Roman's crop the effect is making the image more balanced but the original is also appealing. I also noticed a bit of softness in the MG area.

Nice image. I like the reflection a lot. Roman's repost is good. Only suggestion I would make is to work the sky a bit more to show the same warm tones depicted in the water reflection.
