Decided to go higher magnification for this one. Canon EOS- 1D, Sigma 180 mm f/3.5 APO HSM DX macro, Canon 12 mm ET and tripod. This plant can be found in most gardens and will take minimum temperatues in the low to mid 60's. Must have partial shade and moist rich soil.

What is it?

Charles, I love Calladiums too. They are seasonal in NJ but we sell alot of them at the garden center because of their beautiful colors. This color variety is one of my favorites. Nice unusual composition showing their characteristics nicely. Well done.

Denise,

Thanks for the kind comments. They only grow year round in a Zone 10 area. They die off here in St. Augustine just like NJ. Loved them when I lived in Va. Beach also...

Drats! I was so close! Really interesting plant, Charles. From a photo standpoint I could go with a crop off the bottom just because it loses a little of the focus that the rest of the image has. It is quite interesting to look at!

Jules,

Thanks for the comments. When I first saw the image on screen I thought this is a caladium. Photos look so different at life size compared to close up...
