I lurk here but usually dont post as I dont have many good mammal photos. This one is from the spring. Usually we dont get to see squirrels perched like birds.
It was late in the day( I was shooting some night herons) and I did not have my tripod. Had to underexpose in camera and then pull it up in RAW conversion. Had to do a lot of NR on the BG. I have missed some spots. The noise in the squirrel is probably helping in making it look sharp :-) There was a slight camera shake as well. Do you see a magenta cast? I am bad at detecting casts.
40D. 300 f/4 non-IS and 1.4x. iso 640; f/5.6; 1/50; Braced the lens against a tree if I remember correctly.
