A bird of far nothern Australia. This shot really stretched my CS3 limited skills with such a complex bg, your comments and advice most welcome. Thanks.

Lovely BG, Colin. Edges of the perch suggest blurring in post. Difficult to get the whole bird sharp with this facing away pose. Critical focus seems to be on the back and I think you have pushed the sharpening a bit far - the plumage on the back and the perch look a bit "crunchy" but the head still looks a bit soft. Applying the sharpening selectively may help.

I love the texture in the back feathers, but 'd agree with Tony here. Although I quite like the BG, it has a kind of cartoonish fell to it, perhaps exaggerated by the way the colours intersect with the head and how the soft perch seems separated from it.
I'd try to reduce the colours in the BG even further, or try to make them more natural.
