Here's the trunk of a Bristle Cone Pine shot where they grow at 11,000 feet in the Eastern Siearas, CA.

Fuji S5, Tamron 90mm f/32 at 1-sec. Feisol Tripod, Acratech Ballhead, Natural Light.

Just beautifull, great composition, I like the natural light coming into the object. Texture is very complex and interesting. Very 3dimensional looking.

This is a wonderful image, Mike. It reminds me of some I've seen in Outdoor Photography, but better of course. The color, light and geometry all work well together and I've been gazing at it for a while now.

Speaking of OP, I saw your mug on the Tamron page last night! Pretty cool.

Mike,
What Tomislav & Adrian said! Reminds me of flowing lava - nice glow in the highlights.

I got to spend a couple days in that region a few years ago. These ancient sandblasted trees present wonderful opportunities for abstracts.

Can I assume you'll be sharing more (he said hopefully)?

This reminds me of the Slot Canyon sandstone. Great subject, lines, colours and luminosity. Nice shot Mike. I think I read somewhere that these are really old trees?

Some of these trees have been dated at 3-4000 years old!

This has tons of visual impact and color to die for.

Hey Jackie, they say the oldest are just under five thousand year old.

Hey Chris I have only a couple and this one is the best.

Hey Danny, thanks and you mean the Tamron page.

Beautiful textures and golden lighting. That LLC is a bit distracting to me, though...maybe just a slight tone down? Everything else is fantastic. I, too, thought you were in the canyons when I saw the thumbnail!

Congratulations on a great image, Mike! The colors are so warm that I'm afraid I might burn my hands just by touching the screen! Wonderful texture and waviness.

This really stands out as an excellent photograph among many very good ones. I didnt catch this until now, but I am really impressed with the lines, the lighting, the incredible colors. Bristlecones pine, and any subalpine subject is not easy to photograph, this I know from working in this environment. You really did an exceptional job on lighting on this, amazing photo, Mike. I have to say I have really learned a lot in a year of lurking and six months of photo posting here, and your photos in particular have taught volumes in composition alone.
