Here's one from last season of a Grey FleshFly wich was blowing a waterbubble..

Most cool Jeroen. I like all the complimentary colors - the perch and BG vs. the fly and him blow a bubble, that's over the top. Never saw that before. Sharp just were it needs to be sharp. Well done.

Very sharp and contrasty image. This subject isnt pretty but the details are interesting. By the way I dont think thats water in the bubble I think it is really stomach juices.

Jeroen, an excellent capture of this fly and a great example of using a low f stop to render the background OOF while keeping a sharp focus on the eye/head. It seems that for many maco shooters, the 'conventional wisdom' is to always use f16 or higher for maximum DOF. While this is a good rule of thumb for a variety of macro situations, it is not a 'one-size fits all' guideline. Using a shallow DOF is technically more challenging, requiring excellent technique to achieve sharp focus. Given this is an Olympic year, this US judge awards you a 10.0. Great execution!
