What a difference it makes photographing birds with the 5D. The colors are amazing. I didn't even saturate the BG on this photograph. Obviously, I was down on my belly again...only this time it was in the mud. I would have liked the picture a little less tight but had no choice.

Down on my belly in the mud

C & C always welcomed and appreciated,

Cute little guy, and quite the "round" pose. Great low angle and yes, the BG looks pretty darn good. I would definitely darken the pupil (but not the catchlight!) as it would look great pure black.

Love the shallow DOF here. Great pose and super angle. You didn't tell me you bought a 5D. ;) Don't you miss the crop factor?

Excellent detail light and BG here.
The bird is a bit big for me in the frame though.

Hi Marina... my thoughts are in-line with others - great detail, light and background. ;-) I also think maybe more space would top and left would work. Great as is... congrats.

Marina, Beautiful colors in the BG. Nice low angle. I like the pose. Nicely done. It's not too tight for me.

Congrats on the new camera. Lovely image with great bg. I too would add a little canvas around. A little extra sharpening and minor contrast tweek might bring out more detail in the feathers.

When the birds get this close, who needs a crop factor. Love the the dynamic range of the 5D. I wouldn't use it for BIF, but it's great for more stationary birds, esp where you want to emphasize the birds' colors or the BG's.
