Taken a few days back .. wish it had a bit more of a head turn but I still like it.

Canon 50D
500mm f4 + 1.4x
Aperture Priority @ 1/3200, f5.6, ISO 200, exposure comp -5/3
handheld, natural light

Malcolm,
Great subject and very complementing background. Very nice details. Even though reflections is not strong, I am thinking may be a little more space at the bottom to balance the image. Very nice job as it is.

I agree with Harshad - the hooded merganser is very special among the ducks. Nice shot of the bird in motion and the background color is divine. Some of the whites are a little warm but I know exactly what your are dealing with here from my own merganser encounters. I think the eye could use a little more sharpening to bring this one home.

Awesome. Was the bird swimming too fast? Even at 1/3200, a little motion is detected in the head. My guess is that it was probably just moving its head. Hard bird to expose correctly and you have done a very good job. I feel that a higher angle would have been better for the reflection.
