Short-eared owl--my first of the season. The lake behind makes for a different bg.;) I kind of like it--but we'll see what everyone else thinks?
I wish these old fence posts were a bit closer to the road--it is quite a reach.

Hi Bonnie, magnificent animal and wonderfully photographed. I'm not too bothered by the BG, but might consider cropping this as a horizontal. I think there is a bit too much empty space on top and will give you one less band in the BG.

the space all around works for me here Bonnie. I wonder what it was looking at? lovely exposure and details...the divided BG adds IMO

Bonnie, great sighting, and I like the eye contact. As it is now, I feel this needs a slight CCW rotation ( Im using the top blue/brown BG line ) I can also see this as a vertical too.

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions--here is the horizontal crop. Interesting image to work with, to me-it works both ways. (hope I got the horizon fairly straight--:))

Hi Bonnie: I'm in a bit late on this one but I wanted to mention that I was scrolling the repost on my laptop and I cut of the top, thin layer of blue and the shot really looked even better at that point than the original and repost, at least to me. Anyway, great shot Bonnie!

Nice shot, perch is nice and I like the two toned BG. The re-post is an improvement although I would take out the borwn stripe above water to concentrate more on the bird. It's a shame those yellow eyes are not looking at you. I would sharpen the bird more.
