Hi Marc, Im very wary of these guys, have you seen the size of their incisors. This looks pretty large, and also fairly old too. Good eye contact, and just love their orange eyes.

I like the close-up view of this old chap. Very good detail in this and good eye contact as mentioned.

Marc,

Agree with the others comments. I find the blue color cast unnatural (at least IMO) so reposted it with a gray point correction (levels, gray eyedropper, picking various gray points on the coat until I found something I liked) and then a hue/saturation correction (cyan channel desaturated 100%).

The gray point correction did warm up the image however. Anyway, just something to consider.

Hi Marc: What an intense close-up of a dangerous animal. Detail is beautiful and eyes are piercing. Just a great shot. Repost even a bit more intense, if that's possible.

I always favor warm colors, Robert's repost makes this perfect. Too sharp !!

DB, why 'dangerous' ? Reminds me of someone who called the painted dogs "dangerous" in the recent past :-)

Nice sharp portrait. Love the "T" of the nostrils. Prefer the warmer repost but maybe just a little less strong.

sharp portrait of a dangerous bloke.

Kiran - baboon fangs are larger than lion and leopard fangs and many leopards who have posed a threat to a baboon troop have been killed by these alpha males. Stay well away...

love the facial expression... prefer the warm colours of Roberts repost...still in two minds about the crop you have chosen .... but either way still a powerful facial portrait

I love the expression. The nose looked a bit more blue in the original post. The eyes and open mouth is very expressive. A vertical would have been great.

It is not always the length of the fangs that matters. The sabre tooth had larger. However, they used to splinter on hitting bones.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Sabya - point taken.

I was also hinting at the fact that baboons have killed many predators hoping to make them its prey...males are quite aggressive and obviously more agile than an animal which is bound to all fours :)

Resubmitted as a vertical and (my) warmed up WB.

I think I'd rather tangle with a painted dog than with one of these things. Wouldn't want to get my face ripped off:).
