Photographed at Conowingo last week. It is cropped from horizontal, I added some canvas at the bottom and removed an OOF power pole in the BG.

Now that is pretty cool. Did he drop it or was the fish jumping? <smile> Love the BKGR except for the visible trunks. Great job of capturing the action.

Thanks, Artie! It looked as if he lost the fish.

Axel, this capture is awesome. I love the story it tells and you aptly named it. I love the colors in the BG. The trunks are what they are, part of the environment. You got lucky keeping the fish in the frame!

Great capture Axel. I bet you thought "oh yea" when you looked at the LCD on this one. Comp and exposure are really nice as well.

It's funny how one see the image and focus the attention on the bird, but since it is watching his/her food falling, then is the fish the one who stills the show! Great timing and bird. BG is a winner IMO.

I didn't see anyone else say it so I will- Obviously, that's a "flying" fish. =)

Thanks for sharing!

Very nice action shot. I have seen them drop a fish only to have another eagle grab it.

Now, thats timing. Your reaction time to press the shutter when you see it falling. Reminds me of the timing one needs when shooting a take off shot from a perch. I can feel his dissatisfaction of his lunch falling back to the water. Lovely hovering posture, and just love the colours in the BG. Well captured.

Moment well captured Axel. That fish must have been right at the bottom of the frame? (the Bg looks a bit stretched:D)
I am not mad about thr proportions of the frame but understand your reasoning. ( I would have preferred it a bit longer.)
I like the image.

Axel, I can almost here the eagle saying, "Dang it !!" If you had only gotten the eagle this would be very cool but the inclusion of the fish makes it all the more interesting. Great timing.

lol I'm glad there was a thumbnail along with the title because reading it brought up a different mental image. :) Love the action and the background .. maybe it's me because I'm trying out some new contacts but the eagle looks like it could use just a bit more sharpening, but it also might be the contacts. Sure looks like Conowingo is a place to visit.
