Hi,

Here is an evening photo taken with D700 Nikon TC 1.4X 200-400mm 1/400 sec, iso 500, f / 5.6 560 mm, manual exposure. I regret that I did not stop down to 7.1. I did not anticipate the the egret would fly between me and the sunset, so I was really not prepared for the high exposure and some part of the photo turned out with blinkies not possible to save in pp...

Pose and angle look good. I find it a bit tight in the frame and the bird looks a bit too dark. There is also a color cast and the bright area in the BG competes with the subject. Keep them coming!

BTW, images should not be larger than 1024 pixels horizontally, this one is 1280.

Thanks for the comments, I uploaded a smaller image and an un-cropped version. I will work on the color cast, any suggestions how to reduce the overexposed background? :o

Dark above/bright below images rarely work. You did as well as you could but.... I do like the view of the underwings; the whole bird could go whiter.

Since the water in the upper right is overexposed, you could try to clone parts of the BG on the left to that area if that is something you do.

Much easier/better/more effective to use some Quick Masks.
