Whilst driving to the Savuti Marsh area, my eye caught something in the mid hollow of this tree,
it was a fleeting glimpse, so I asked Ewan our mob camp guide to hit reverse and investigate,
I was just as proud that I managed to spot this well camouflaged pair than I was to photograph it.

Great texture on the bark/trunk, gives a very interesting perspective ! This almost looks like a 3-D embossed image. They are definitely well camoflaged.

Marc,

Very nice and I think quite rare (again), I have seen them in a tree only once before. I presume the smaller one is a youngster?

Hi Marc,

Who could ever think a Monitor Lizard can make such a nice image. The tecture as mentioned adds a lot of dimension and the alround detail and quality is very good. I tend to ignore them but next time.....

Appreciate the comments guys.

Marc,

It's cousin here in Australia, the Goanna, can often be found in and around trees.
As to the smaller one I'm not sure Ken, I had also assumed a youngster, as I thought it may be a little too small to be it's mate?

Marc, Well spotted & well executed. As far as I know they like hollow tree trunks; I have seen them peeking out on a few occasions.

Sharp eyes Marc, and a sharp image too. Great detail captured, and I like the monotone of this image. Well done.
