The morning I got the close up Le Conte's Sparrow shots, I also was able to capture some shots of the several Savannah Sparrows that were all around me in the tall native grasses.

Image taken with a D300, 600VR, 1.4tc, f/6.3, ISO 400, 1/1000th SS, +.3EV

Great shot Jason! I am not sure but I think that this is a Lincoln's Sparrow!

Agreed it's a great shot but my ID vote is for Savannah.

I agree, Savannah. Good job on the EX, detail held in whites very good. Strong low angled light but you managed to keep the shadows off the bird. Wish the lower leg was visible.

Very nice Savannah Sparrow with the typical yellow dot over the eye.
Good position,sharpness and BG.
Golden grass in BG does not distract me on initial look.

Really nice Jason. Great lighting, BG, and sharpness. What, if any, post processing did you do on this? Thanks.

Thanks for all the replies. Post processing was all done in NX2. My normal workflow...slight levels and curves adjustment, bumped the contrast, USM on subject only, dropped a color control point on the bg (which evened out the color on a stem of grass) , slight crop, and that was it.
