Juvenile Red-tailed Hawk
Southern, California

Another look from a Red-tailed Hawk as I like the pose captured and the sky land
background.

Nikon D300 70-200 2.8 1.7TC

Thanks For Looking

Great stuff Jim!! You are right about that BG it is really nice. Pose, comp, exposure all spot on.
My eye is drawn more to the talons, I think the eye of the bird needs to "pop" a bit more.
Probably due to the fact that the eye colour is very similar to the sandy coloured BG.
You are doing very good with that small zoom lately, can't wait to see what you come up with when you get your big lens back from servicing!! :)

James, I find this as the better capture from your series, all great, but the light, detail and sharpness overide the others. The BG works well here, and congrats on a fine image.

I find the lighting to be phenomenal.
An all-around technically and artistically excellent image.

Very good ! Good sharpness, exposure and pose ! The blurred background afar really makes the hawk stand out in the photo !

WOW the BG makes this picture a magnificiant one, it shows the habitat of the bird and the focus achieved on the subject is tack.

James - what a sweet raptor image. You sure are raising the bar on hawk photography. I liked the last one much better though and I don't feel bad saying it because you took that photo too!!

Very appealing image!! Fabulous pose - the widely spread tail is killer good! I don't think the hawk needs to "pop" more...to me it already does so quite well. Very well done :-)

Excellent pose, detail, exposure. The fanned tail is wonderful. Agree with Daniel-the bird pops just fine as posted. Very, very nice.

A perfect pose that highlights the underwing detail and talons. Great eye contact, and I like that the beak has separation from the wing.

This is fabulous Jim. Awesome from the 70-200 & 1.7! The extra details in the bg adds a great deal and is my fav' from this series.

Gorgeous light, this has a clarity that is difficult to get on the underside of RTH.
Perfect wing position and HA too. Sharp, good background. Nothing I could see to change.
