Red-tailed Hawk
Socal

This adult Red-tailed Hawk is still very active in raising her little Juveniles as I have been noticing her interactions
with them especially when it comes to feeding.

Nikon D300 70-200 2.8 1.7 TC HH ;)

Thanks For Looking

Jim

James -- That is about as stunning of a shot as I have seen on this website. You can see the back of the hawk with its signature tail but you also see its face and intense eye. And to top it off the background is all buttery smooth. I assume there are ways to improve it but that is beyond my skill level. Thanks for the great midnight snack. Now its my bedtime!!

James, I like the light, colours and sharpness, and the hawk pops so well from the BG. Well captured.

Very nice James, eye and head are sharp and shows intense fixation on target. Would tone down the BG a bit. TFS

I like the IQ here. super crisp detail. Nice eye contact and good colour. BG works well.
I would be inclined to look at a bit of a tighter crop from front, top and bottom?

Excellent sharpness, great light, and a nice BG. How's it feel to hand hold? ;)

Great light, sharpness and detail. The 70-200 with the 1.7? My copies don't play well together. Nicely done!

Thanks all for nice comments

I do like it I've always felt that way because of having less limitations especially with the free range of motion(HH) as you know and seen I have missed some shots because of using a tripod...;) But I do know I have missed some shots because of not having the huge amount of reach that the 600 alone or with teles would of given me shooting these Hawks... Now if I only had that rumored 100-500 Nikon lens a perfect mobile option.:) The 600 is just to darn heavy to hand hold :D
