too much time on my hands ....

a set up shot obviously

40d with sigma 150mm macro on tripod with cable release

ST-E2 wireless unit triggering 2 speedlights in 1:1 ratio:

main light handheld by me with diffuser above and right of flower

2nd light on the table aimed at white background for hi key efx

loaded into lightroom and tweaked in ps cs 3.

shot in manual mode
f/18
1/125
ISO 400 (defaulted via auto ISO)

Beautiful MIke Simple and elegant I like your use of light and elegant crop If anything would give it a bit more room I like it a lot !!! Big Congrats !!!

Good compostion and a good subject.

On my monitor the image looks bright, not blown but bright.

I like the comp a lot. The flower and its leaves just flow through the image. The sharpness and DOF is good as well. I do agree with Robert that it looks a bit bright. I wonder if adjusting the black point to a bit darker would also increase the saturation a bit more as well?

I really like the highlights and shadows on the flower itself. Lovely 3-D textured look.

Hi Michael,

Like the though behind this and would go for a bit more room all around.
I do feel that softening the light just a tad might improve this.

Hi Michael , I really like this repost of the tulip - the lighting is now much more subtle and suits the elegance of this flower. Nice one!!!
