An introduced Brown Hare photographed in a small native grassland reserve in Canberra. The red-eye seems a natural effect as no flash was used. These hares occur in much lower numbers in than that curse on the Australian landscape: the European Rabbit.

Canon 7D, EF500 f/4 + 1.4 tc, Gitzo tripod + Mongoose head. Evaluative, Av, ISO 400, 1/500, f/9, slight crop for composition.

Good timing and great action captured in this image as well as nice eye contact. It appears a tad soft but could be my monitor. Many thanks for sharing Simon.

Super shot Simon and good timing. Unusual eye. (thought it might be something to do with Halloween, :D). Thanks for sharing. Dave

I like the extended front legs, shows the movement nicely. Interesting eye, and good to see him surrounded by his natural habitat.

Thank you all for your comments. Here's a version with a bit more sharpening, there is motion blur in the front leg, will use a higher shutter speed next time.
