Taken in Tampa Bay, off the now retired Hooptie, under the tutelage of Captain Shadle.
Nikon D300, with 80-400mm lens at 80mm, 1/2000 sec at f/8, ISO 400, -2/3

OK, Jory, enough with the pelicans. This was probably the nicest sky I had in 2 days of Florida shooting to show any birds against, and I liked the different wing positions. Any thoughts?

Hi Jory Got all three birds with good wing position Formation wise maybe having the lead bird a bit closer Do like how well they show and the beautiful sky !!! Glad you are going after the larger image Find them more difficult but rewarding !!!!

They are magnificent birds aren't they! And you caught them well and against a beautiful sky indeed. We have a 100 or so that winter here and I've spent many a weekend enjoying their company. For me these types of images (of these birds) are about symetry... tight spacing between the birds, identical wing, head angles & flight angles... or close to it.

Wonderful sky and a nicely designed image. I would have liked the lead bird to have had a similar wing postion to the two birds in the back. Do you see the difference in brightness on the raised wing?

Later and love, artie
