During 1988 a number of fires started in the greater Yellowstone area, fifty which were right within the Park. A total of 793,000 acres ( 36% of the Park) went up in flames which gives you an idea why prevention of forest fires takes such an importance in the Park.
The new trees have grown from seeds released from by pods stimulated by the heat, nature at work !!
