This was done over the labour day long weekend at Brechin, Ontario on the east shore of Lake Simcoe:
1D Mk III, 500/4+1.4x on ground pod, f/7.1 1/1600sec ISO200

This is my first comment on any photo. I am a beginner, eager to learn.

I really like the low viewing angle. The ground pod seems like a good tool. Besides big congrats, may I play devil's advocate and wonder if the photo would be better if the leg reflections were masked out? Would that be dishonest or detract? When I first looked at this photo I was not sure where the legs entered the water, a bit of confusion.

Maybe the bit of confusion is good and makes you look at the image more closely, not sure.

This is the first time I used a ground pod in a serious outing. The results are good as you can see, but the process is rather messy. Especially in a sandy/muddy environment, be very careful what you touch--when I was getting up to leave, I pushed myself up with the palm of my hands. Then I picked up the camera without thinking. Oops! Ended up having to rinse the sand off the grip and the back side of the camera in the water... For next year, I think I'll get a chest wader or wet suit. Then I can take the whole thing off and dump it in a big plastic bag before leaving the area. And absolutely no touching the ground. Just the elbows to push up...
