I previously posted some comments on the new Canon PowerShot S90 compact digital camera. While I thought it was a very fine camera, I was dismayed by the fact that the accompanying software had not been updated to handle the RAW images created by the camera. Furthermore, my Photoshop CS3 Camera Raw software also could not read the camera's RAW files.

As a result, conversion of the S90 RAW files to TIFF files seemed to be the only option. But thanks to a recent note in the November issue of Popular Photography regarding the RAW files of a different Canon camera, there is a solution.

Simply download the free DNG Converter from Adobe's web site, open the application, select your Canon S90 folder, and click the Convert button. Presto, you will have DNG RAW files that can be read and adjusted in Photoshop CS3.
