Hi Roy - good lookin bird - You have a good HA and eye contact (Love the red eye), pose is good also.
BG is what it is - wish the stick that intersects the birds head in the BG was not there. A few quick masks would take care of it.

Shutter speed is still a bit slow at that focal length:)

Really nice !! I think well worth doing some PS magic here !! Would get rid of the stick Lance pointed out the soften the bg a bit !!

Tech wise would suggest increasing the ISO, did real well at that speed but always dangerous. Exposure is right on with lots of shadow detail !!

... here is a quick fix

Love the pose, feather details on the black, the red eye really get my attention. Agree with bumping up the ISO to get more speed, especially when handheld.

Very good white and black detail. All it really needs is to appear on my camera LCD.
